About this place
For an evening of casual drinking and hearty food near Shinozaki Station, izakaya Takeda is an easy choice. The wide menu spans seafood, meat, and vegetable dishes, but the sashimi is often the first thing diners order. A three-piece assortment featuring items like meji tuna, swordfish, and seared bonito provides great value and makes an ideal companion to an opening drink. The simmered pork offal (motsu nikomi), deeply flavored and well loved by regular patrons, is another signature dish worth ordering.
Other offerings are broad, ranging from made-to-order fried dishes like chicken karaage, whiting tempura, and yagen cartilage karaage to spicy stir-fried pork tripe and salt-simmered beef tendon. Draft beer comes in small, medium, and large mugs, while drinks can be tailored to taste with options such as the house Takeda Shochu Highball, Hoppy, and various fruit sours. To wrap up a meal, pairs of fragrant grilled rice balls (yaki onigiri) and warm miso soup remain the standard closer.
Inside, casual counter and table seating accommodate solo visits or quick drop-ins, while raised tatami seating toward the back provides space to stretch out and settle in. It functions equally well for a quiet solo nightcap or an extended gathering to share dishes with friends. Operating from 17:00 in the evening until 24:00 at night, with Sundays off, it offers an unpretentious neighborhood retreat for classic izakaya fare.
